We went for breakfast soon after 8. The crossing had been very calm so far (as on the outbound journey). I then headed back to the deck to see if there would be any more whales. We had crossed back onto the continental shelf, so large whales were unlikely. However, I saw more common dolphins, something in the distance that I couldn’t identify (but might have been pilot whales) and a minke whale that passed very close to the ship. That was the last of the whale sightings, as we headed into the English channel and the lines of noisy cargo ships heading to and from European ports.
The rest of the day was just relaxing in the sunshine (or, for George, in front of a film), whilst waiting for our evening arrival in Portsmouth and the drive home to Wales.
