With stronger winds forecast, but another hot and sunny day, we decided to head to the estuary beach for some paddle-boarding. Whilst the conditions were “good” for surfing, they would have been too strong for body-boarding on the main beach. On the inland water the incoming tide and strong offshore wind made for more challenging paddleboard conditions, but safe in the knowledge that being blown up-river was a worst-case scenario.
We had pizza from one of the local pizzerias (not open untill 8pm, in typical Spanish style). After that we headed to the main beach, where (with the wind a little lighter) we enjoyed the sunset as the waves crashes against the shore.
Later in the evening loud music started playing in the distance (from the town across the estuary). Amazingly, this continued until around 3am (although we all slept through most of it without any trouble). The explanation emerges tomorrow!`
