Day 8: Yet another beach day...

18th July 2022

Unfortunately, there is nothing more to report than yet another beach day. Content with relaxing after the stresses of the year so far, and with glorious weather (and two beaches), we read, SUP’d and body-boarded. However, with the tides now much later than when we first arrived, we decided to get up and SUP for the 09:40 high tide. This was a really good decision, as the beach was quite (a handful of serious swimmers and people doing yoga). The water was calm and crystal clear, with very little flow at this state of the tide. There were a lot of fish around, and I sat on the board for a while watching a school of hundreds of small silver fish, with a smaller group of brown fish apparently fascinated by the fins on my board. There were also some larger fish, including striped fish digging in the sand and leaving patterns that were visible right across the shallows. George came out on the board for a while to watch the fishes too.

Dinner tonight was at the campsite cafe. George had a huge hamburguesa (served, oddly enough, with actual slices of ham on top of the beefburger). Lindsey had fish soup and cod, I had crevettes and steak, all off a set menu (and therefore with another bottle of wine included). Very good food!

The last couple of nights there have been thunderstorms a few miles away, and our beach walk was punctuated by forks of lightning across a heavy sky over the town. Fortunately these have never got close, and there has been very little in the way of rain (just a few drops overnight).
